WILLIAMSBURG. This is one place not to miss ­ even though it may not look too promising from the road! Antiques and reproductions are piled to the roof, and you just have to dig. Outside are urns and pots from everywhere, along with stones and ironworks. You can ask for help or just peruse the wares for yourself. The owner and staff are knowledgeable, fun and low-key. Not fancy but some great Continental pieces and prices.

WILLIAMSBURG. One of the more interesting antique places in town, this shop specializes in Civil War and Native American artifacts. Not everything is antique ­ there are some marvelous CDs, clothing and paintings. There is something in every price range, from small pieces for kids to limited edition prints by famous Southwestern artists. The owner is knowledgeable and laid-back and loves talking about where he finds the antiques and the newer items.

Marvelous collectibles live here! From old phones to weathervanes to Jack Daniels oak barrels, there are numerous treasures inside, making this an interesting place to shop. There is absolutely no pressure to buy, but if you need help, you will get it. Much larger than it looks from the outside, this is not the place for fine antiques but fun ones.

This 18th-century house has marvelous food and antiques. Evenly split between dining and shopping, this is a well-known landmark for both in Williamsburg. With English and American antiques and gifts, ham, gravy and biscuits and Brunswick stew, you will not leave empty-handed or hungry. The clientele is also split between locals and visitors, but don't let the crowds deter you ­ the service is as good as the food.

This shop is chock-full of beautiful oriental items ­ the porcelains are exquisite and the furniture a unique change from the English items that dominate this area. The stock does change, so you never know what you will find here except for a wonderful, knowledgeable staff. Closed 12pm-1pm every day.
